Sara Manzoni

Born in Treviglio (BG), Italy on December 18, 1973. She had her degree in Computer Science at the Department of Computer Science, University of Milan (Italy), in 1999 and the PhD in Computer Science at the same University in 2002. Since 2003 Sara Manzoni is assistant professor at the University of Milano-Bicocca where she collaborates with (and she directs starting from 2007) the Artificial Intelligence Lab at the Department of Informatics, Systems and Communication (DISCo). She is one of the founders of Complex Systems and Artificial Intelligence (CSAI) research center at University of Milano-Bicocca, where she coordinates CROWDS research area. Her research activity, documented by both national and international scientific publications concerns:

Knowledge Based Systems and Knowledge Management  Definition and integration of fuzzy indexing and retrieval of a Case-Based Reasoning (CBR) method; structured CBR; CBR adaptation based on explicit knowledge representation and case-based learning  Design and development of support tools for tacit knowledge representation and sharing, mainly in innovation activities involved in design and production processes; other domains: knowledge-based techniques for the management of interoperability and compliance relations in software component configuration

Models, Languages and Architectures for Situated Multi-Agent Systems (MAS)  Definition of an original model based on Multi-Agent Systems principles and as extension of Cellular Automata ones: MMASS – Multilayered MultiAgent Situated System - systems of heterogeneous agents situated in multilayered structured environments  Experimentation of the MMASS model within the Multi-Agent Based Simulation context on problems in which spatial aspects plays a relevant role in system dynamics (e.g. localization problems, crowds and pedestrian dynamics)  Formal tools based on Description logics, Cellular Automata, Situated Cellular Agents towards a multidisciplinary study of complex phenomena emerging in crowding situation
